I know how painful it can be to keep trying to do what you’ve been told should help, and still feel stuck.

I specialize in working with adults and young adults navigating ADHD and executive-function challenges, anxiety, stress, complex trauma, chronic pain and migraine, and women’s mental health across hormonal transitions such as perimenopause and menopause.

Hi! I’m Dr. Jennifer Wolkin, PhD, MFA.

I’m a neurodivergent Harvard-trained neuropsychologist, health psychologist, and MFA-trained poet whose work bridges neuroscience, psychology, and creativity.

My approach blends scientific precision with poetic warmth, and is wide enough to hold everything from ADHD to complex trauma to women’s health transitions.

I help my clients understand how the mind, body, and brain continuously influence one another—and how using that awareness can regulate the nervous system, ease overwhelm, sharpen focus, and restore a sense of clarity and calm.

I bring together psychology, neuroscience, and creative insight so you can explore how the mind, body, and brain connect. I draw from multiple evidence-based paradigms and creative methods that explore those connections, helping you understand yourself and put words to what you feel.

I believe real change should reach beyond symptom relief. Each session is collaborative, strengths-forward, and focused on turning insight into practical, real-world tools.

Together, we build your toolbox—so you can build a life that feels calmer, clearer, and more your own.

Psychological Assessments

Virtual Neurocognitive Assessment

I conduct neurocognitive assessments for those adults wishing to be screened for ADHD.  I no longer do the types of assessments required for accommodations for testing or your academic environment.

This service is for diagnosis, validation, greater awareness, resources, direction, and the option of continuing on with me or someone else for psychotherapy or executive function coaching.

    • 120-minute comprehensive interview to understand your neurodevelopmental history from birth to present-day.

    • 30-60 min assessment using checklists and a few short cognitive measures: using evidence-based cognitive and psychological measures.

    • Data analysis where appropriate

    • You are provided with a 1-3 page report summarizing the outcome of the comprehensive interview, and  the results of any objective measures used.

    • 60 minute feedback session:  including review of the findings, treatment recommendations, and referrals.

Neuropsychological Report Review & Consultation

Many people receive lengthy neuropsychological testing reports that are never fully explained. I offer dedicated sessions to walk through your existing report in clear, human language, so you can actually understand what the results mean.

    • Together, we’ll explore your cognitive strengths and challenges, how they connect to your daily life, and what practical strategies or supports may help.

These consultations are not re-assessments, but rather interpretive, educational, and empowering conversations designed to bridge the gap between data and lived experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I work with adults navigating ADHD and executive-function challenges, anxiety, stress, complex trauma, chronic pain and migraine, and women’s mental health across hormonal transitions such as perimenopause and menopause.

I also support individuals managing chronic health conditions and the interconnected ways the mind, body, and brain impact daily life.

  • My work is truly integrative, combining neuroscience, psychology, and an understanding of how the mind, body and brain work together.

I draw from multiple evidence-based paradigms—behavioral, cognitive, mindfulness-based, somatic, and parts-oriented—to create a plan tailored to your needs.

I also incorporate creative therapeutic techniques, including writing, metaphor, and poetry therapy, which help transform emotion into language and meaning. My MFA in poetry deepens this work, bringing curiosity, precision, and creativity to how we explore your inner world.

Sessions are collaborative, strengths-forward, and focused on turning insight into practical, real-world tools.

  • My practice focuses on young adults and adults—I like to say I see clients between the ages of 18 and 118. If you’re seeking specialized care for a child, that’s outside the scope of my practice.

  • Yes. With your verbal and written consent, I’m happy to coordinate care with other clinicians, physicians, or specialists to ensure you receive comprehensive, cohesive support.

  • Most sessions are 45–60 minutes. Extended sessions may be available for neuropsychological consultations or more complex work.

  • I don’t provide emergency or crisis care. If you’re in immediate distress, please call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.

The 988 Lifeline offers free, confidential support from trained counselors who can provide immediate help and connect you with ongoing resources.

For established clients, I do my best to accommodate urgent scheduling needs when possible.

  • I don’t currently offer in-person clinical sessions. However, I do provide speaking engagements and consultation services for organizations that require on-site presence.

  • Our first session is about connection and curiosity—not perfection or pressure.

We’ll talk about what brings you in, what’s been feeling hard, and what you hope to gain from our work together.

You’ll leave with a clearer sense of direction and feeling seen, understood, and supported.

  • People who work with me are often thoughtful, self-aware, and ready to stop white-knuckling their way through life. They want to understand themselves more deeply—not just manage symptoms, but make sense of them.

Whether you’ve tried therapy before or this is your first step, my approach meets you where you are and helps you build a toolbox that supports lasting calm, clarity, and confidence.
